Breeding Stock

At Splendor Ridge, we have been selectively breeding our elk cows for good body size, confirmation, temperament and superior antler production for nearly 15 years. We were one of the first elk farms in Minnesota to begin using artificial insemination in 1996. Every year since then, we have been selectively breeding our elk cows with the best bull genetics in North America!

Most of our elk cows are A.I. bred and put in with a back-up bull 12 days later. All heifers are put in with bulls from our own elite bloodlines.

2008 Award Winning Elk Bulls

Three Splendor Ridge farm-raised elk bulls won top awards at the 2008 North Central Antler Competition.  SPR Amarillo Sky placed 3rd in the Two Year Old Velvet category and SPR 514R & SPR 505R placed 2nd & 3rd in the Three Year Old Velvet category!
